Wort Aeration Experiment: To aerate, or to not bother?
Posted on June 8th, 2008 by Michael Mulvaney
Both of these 6.5 gallon carboys were filled with the same wort: 11 gallons of american amber, all grain, full boil. Both received the same yeast, US-05, with same expiration date (same batch of yeast).
One of these carboys was aerated for 50 seconds at room temperature before the yeast was pitched. One was not. Can you tell which one is which?
The true test will be in the taste.
